Moorestown Friends School Auditorium Sound System Upgrade

Moorestown Friends School Auditorium Sound System Upgrade
For decades, Moorestown Friends School (MFS) has been a cornerstone of academic excellence in southern New Jersey. Rooted in Quaker values and dedicated to fostering personal, ethical, and spiritual growth, MFS serves a diverse student body within a rigorous, balanced educational program. Its history stretches back to the 1780s, when thirty-three Quaker families established the first Friends schools in the region — more than two decades before the first public schools opened in the area. Today, the school’s 48-acre campus blends historic structures with state-of-the-art facilities, supporting a wide range of arts, athletics, and academic programs.
Starlite has been proud to partner with MFS on multiple projects over the years, providing professional AV, rigging, and lighting solutions tailored to their needs. When it came time to modernize the auditorium’s aging sound system, the school once again called on us — confident we could deliver a system to support their performances, assemblies, and community gatherings for years to come.

Smart Design, Tailored to the Space
Our Systems Integration team (hyperlink) approached the project with enthusiasm, building on our history of successful work with MFS. Engineer Paul Dietrik led the design with a focus on performance, cost-effectiveness, and the auditorium’s unique acoustics. His recommendations included two new loudspeaker arrays — each made up of three passive loudspeakers — positioned at the left and right for consistent audience coverage, plus a central subwoofer to deliver balanced low-end support.
Paul’s design also added new stage monitors, wireless microphone receivers, choral microphones, and an upgraded antenna distribution system to ensure reliability. Just as importantly, he strategically integrated existing equipment — including the mixing console, DSP, and microphone systems — maximizing the school’s investment without unnecessary replacements, while providing an avenue for future expansion and upgrades to the audio system.
The Behind-the-Scenes Expertise
Once installation was complete, Field Engineer Nick Minieri stepped in to fine-tune the system. While it’s easy to assume professional AV systems are “plug-and-play,” true performance comes from skilled calibration and programming. Nick meticulously balanced the loudspeakers, subwoofer, and monitors to suit the room’s acoustics, ensuring flawless integration with existing gear.
