PROJECT SUPERVISOR

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supervising and assisting installation technicians, programming,
configuring, commissioning, and testing of complex Audio Visual projects. Strong
communication skills, understanding the project scope of work, mentoring Installation
Technicians, and proper utilization of resources are key elements of this position. Ability to
trouble‐shoot complex audio, video, switching and control systems problems required.

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Integration

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervision of all personnel and activities on project site.
  • Obtain and read all contract documents including, but not limited to: bid drawings and
    specifications, contract, project workbook, subcontractor scopes of work, and construction
    schedule.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of project requirements and objectives including, but
    not limited to: contractual, financial, technical, schedule, construction coordination,
    materials, personnel, and scope of work.
  • Facilitate internal project kick‐off meeting that includes key participants from sales,
    engineering, fabrication and installation.
  • Coordinate all in house activities associated with project execution, including but not
    limited to: submittals, engineering, fabrication and installation, programming,
    commissioning, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Create and manage the project schedule.
  • Function as the focal point for internal and external project communication and
    documentation.
  • Coordinate activities with general contractor, construction manager, owner and other
    trades as required.
  • Provide regular reports of job progress to all stakeholders.
  • Assist with, or facilitate the ordering of materials upon approval of submittal documents or
    verification from engineering for design‐build projects.
  • Coordinate with installation/operations manager to schedule personnel for installation.
  • Cooperatively manage and monitor the labor expenditures of engineering, fabrication and
    installation personnel over the course of the project and communicate (upward) any issues
    that impact profitability.
  • Solicit quotes from qualified subcontractors as required.
  • Generate and/or respond to construction communication including, but not limited to:
    requests for information, change order documents, room readiness letters, delay or
    compression notification of theft or damage to materials, tools or vehicles, safety or injury
    reports, warranty information, material hand off or inventory, punch lists, field reports,
    sign‐off documents or other documentation as assigned or required.
  • Proactively manage the change order process.
  • Regularly inspect installation work performed by staff and/or subcontractors.
  • Test, or certify the performance of, installed systems.
  • Coordinate and/or provide training to client.
  • Coordinate turn‐over of project to service department at the end of each project.

DESIGN ENGINEER

The Design Engineer’s role is to design, specify and engineer fully integrated audio, visual and lighting systems.

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conform to industry technical standards, and advance Starlite’s internal best practices.
  • Interface with all stakeholders in order to grasp the project scope, the client’s requirements and any potential complications that may arise.
  • Visit the project site to conduct surveys as needed and document the site conditions.
  • Create job cost estimates and continue to, review and approve systems criteria. Provide technical responses to RFPs and RFIs.
  • Interpret technical specifications, schematics, architectural diagrams and provide structural and MEP coordination including conduit and electrical requirements.
  • Review pre-construction design and documentation and provide assistance with technical design, take-offs, and budget pricing for proposals as needed.
  • Interface with clients, architects, consultants and Starlite staff throughout the design development and delivery process.
  • Provide conceptual designs for audio, visual and lighting systems.
  • Develop a statement of work for each job based on system design and customer
requirements. Responsible for job documentation as needed.
  • Continually conduct equipment research on new and emerging technology.
  • Work collaboratively and efficiently and provide support to the entire team.
  • Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records.
  • Identify all cabling and miscellaneous materials required for the project.
  • Assist Account Managers with the development of system proposals and labor estimates.
  • Communicate effectively with internal staff, client representatives, cooperative trades and
subcontractors.
  • Effectively coordinate and manage multiple system design projects.
  • Be responsible for successfully completing assignments on time and within budget.
  • Establish and maintain an effective line of communication with the client acting as a liaison 
in support of the Account Manager.
  • Provide engineering support during the installation phase.
  • Provide feedback in “Lessons Learned” meeting at the conclusion of Project.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent technical subject-related work experience.
  • AVIXA CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I, ESTA ETCP-CRT, ETCP-CRA, and/or ETCP-CEE certifications are highly desirable.
  • Manufacturer certifications such as Crestron, Extron, Harman, Cisco, etc. are a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of signal flow and control systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of diagrammatic software tools, particularly AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to pursue additional training related to the role.
  • Ability to think and work independently, meeting deadlines as necessary.
  • Proficiency with test and calibration equipment.

SERVICE TECHNICIAN - LEVEL ONE
Perform electrical and mechanical repairs on all Starlite and customer equipment both in-house and on customer site.
 
Reports to: VP of Systems Integration
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •  Troubleshoot, repair and test all Starlite and customer equipment and returned cables
  • Helping and repairing light testing area
  • Contact vendors and customers with technical questions related to repair
  • Build fixtures for sales and rentals
  • Organize parts, supplies and service area – source and procure parts at the most economical price
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including expense reports and parts requests
  • Keep up to date on new products as they are introduced
  • Respond to on-site service calls as requested
  • Ensure that all safety measures are implemented and followed
  • Perform other job related duties or special projects as required
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus one to three years related experience
  • Trade school with knowledge or electronic/mechanical repair required
  • Ability to read schematics and job prints
  • Good organizational and written and oral skills required
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments
  • Knowledge of AC/DC power high/low voltage, dimmers (SCR and IGBT) discharge/ballast lights, audio/visual equipment
  • Knowledge of analog and digital electronics
  • Proper soldering techniques, including component surface mount soldering
  • Proper use of oscilloscopes, meters, and other electric testing equipment
  • Knowledge in using basic hand tools
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

ENGINEERING MANAGER
The Engineering Manager manages the engineering department, both schedules and expectations. The Manager also works with CAD, sales and design engineers to meet project design deadlines and assures labor is proper for all projects. This position also designs, drafts layouts and drawings for systems from specifications, source control drawings, sketches, models, or verbal instructions.   This position reviews all engineering requests and assigns them to other engineers based on their workload and skillset.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Define, recommend and implement operating policies and plans to improve the competitive position and profitability of the Company. Provide leadership, direction, and inspiration to the engineering team.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of unified standards and procedures for the department including: contract administration, design standards, quality assurance, performance and time management, post-sale services, etc.
  • Provide structural and MEP coordination including conduit and electrical requirements, interfacing with clients and job sites to document customer requirements and job site conditions.
  • Review pre-construction design and documentation, providing assistance with technical design and pricing for proposals as needed.   Work directly with clients, architects, consultants, and staff throughout the design, development, and delivery process.
  • Provide designs and specifications for lighting, rigging, and control systems.
  • Develop a statement of work for each job based on system design and customer requirements. Responsible for job documentation as needed.
  • Review each design request and if appropriate, assign it to another engineer based on workload and skillset.
  • Drawing rough sketches and performing mathematical computations to develop the design and work out detailed specifications of components.
  • Applying knowledge of mathematical formulas and physical laws and using conventional and computerized work aids to make calculations.
  • Participating in engineering and general design reviews as required.
  • Interacting with vendors and customers on engineering design issues.
  • Mentoring Designers and Drafters.
  • Checking design work of other engineering department members including layout, form, fit, function, materials, specification callouts, geometrics, dimensioning, and others as directed.
  • Keeping supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress on all assignments.
  • Conduct equipment research on new and existing technology for client applications

  • Familiarity in the use of diagrammatic software tools (such as AutoCAD, Visio, Vectorworks, WYSIWIG, etc.).

OUTSIDE SALES - EVENT TECHNOLOGY

Full Time Position

Starlite is seeking an experienced sales professional with the ability to prospect and close new business for the company’s Event Technology department. Our clientele include meeting and corporate event planners, entertainment artists and social and special event clients and other hospitality professionals, You must have a proven track record of creating opportunities and capturing, cultivating and, maintaining lasting relationships with high-level corporate clients. The successful hire will be able to consistently identify opportunities, nurture prospects, maintain a strong pipeline and consistently close business. Existing relationships with corporate clients in the space is a plus.

SHOW TECHNICIAN
Full time position

Join Starlite’s dynamic team and join our Event Technology department to learn all there is about live event production.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with warehouse staff to ensure quality of equipment leaving the building. Perform equipment pre-builds and patching. Assist in the testing and preparation of production and rental orders. Coordinate, perform and track equipment maintenance on rental/production inventory.
  • Work on-site as a production technician installing/implementing designs during setup, show and strike. Operate equipment. Work with and sometimes supervise production crews including in-house and/or local labor. Ensure that the production schedule proceeds in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Collaborate with production managers during pre and post production. Coordinate resources with production and rental managers, and warehouse staff.
  • Work with customers who require technical assistance during business and off-business hours.
  • Assist production and rental managers with their workload. Proofread and revise orders as necessary to ensure that paperwork is accurate. Generate quotations on occasion.
  • Strong knowledge of audio, video and/or lighting principles and equipment required.
  • Ability to lift 50 to 75 lbs. Position requires sitting or standing for long periods of time as well as working with heights and in confined spaces.
  • Active driver’s license and good driving record required. Personal vehicle may be required for travel to meetings, site visits and transportation to and from shows.
SHOP TECHNICIAN
Full time position

  • Accurately check in returning oders following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepare and pull orders for customers and productions ensuring accuracy of equipment counts, following Standard Operations Procedures.
  • Test equipment returning from customers and productions, identify missing or damaged equipment and follow necessary procedures.
  • Organize and maintain departments and general warehouse area.
  • Load and unload orders for customers at the ramp and truck docks, and for Starlite productions, ensuring that customer paperwork and payment terms are met.
