Starlite teamed up with a local artist to assist in a unique project that was on display during the 2015 World Meeting of Families hosted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in September 2015.

Starlite and local artist, Meg Saligman worked closely on a projection project that incorporated the iconic architectural features of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia. They projected video content onto the Cathedral’s aqua oxidized-copper dome during the Papal visit. The technology was pretty impressive for a project of this caliber.

Starlite used the 40k lumen Barco HDQ-2K40 projector as well as the Hippotizer V4 media server for the project. The crew controlled and shot the projection from across the street on the top floor of a hotel that was in the middle of renovation. The content featured a 15 minute video reel consisting of various religious imagery and symbolizations that was played on a loop every night of the World Meeting of Families.

As you would expect there were many logistical challenges with a project like this, aside from projecting onto an oxidized-copper dome, it was no easy feat getting the 462-pound projector to the top floor. But after months of planning and preparation, this historical project was a success.
